It is against the law to evict an occupier of a residential property without a court order. By doing so could land an owner in the criminal courts for prosecution and being sued for costs and damages in the civil courts. Tenant eviction can cost a lot. An award for damages can be substantial, just like the costs. The law isn’t applicable only on persons who have occupied lawfully as tenants or licensees, but also the squatters.
We provide advice and representation to both owners and occupiers and we might be prepared to act for an occupier on a no-win-no-fee basis.
